From Ayurvedic point of view one can easily say that it is not a single dosha or single srotasa vyadhi as all important srotasa are affected. Clinically various srotodushti are seen. While finding hetavas of PCOD we have to take all following entities in consideration, Rasavaha srotas dushti hetavas, rasavaha srotas dushti lakshanani, upadhatavas that is raja and aartava dushti, moolasthana that is hriday and dashavahi dhamani vikriti, aartavavaha srotodushti and other srotodushti and also rasa vriddhi and rasa kshaya that is altered rasadhatu maanam.
Considering above things in mind exact samprapti of PCOD has to be found out. Along with above things common symptoms of srotodushti that is atipravritti, sanga, Siranam granthi and vimargagaman should never be neglected. Despite all the above apana vayu vikriti, vegadharana, santarpanottha and apatarpanottha hetavas with aama dosha association has to be considered. Also medovaha srotas dushti, medorog samprapti should be kept in mind.
